Not yet a week, a statue of Barack Obama in Menteng Park, has brought protests on Facebook. A group ‘Turunkan Patung Barack Obama di Taman Menteng’ has attracted 2.400 of the member.
Obama statue was inaugurated on Thursday, December 10, along with the moment of Obama accepting the Nobel Peace Prize. The inauguration was attended by a number of donors including Surya Paloh and Central Jakarta Mayor Silviana Murni.
The statue was carved by Edy Obama Chaniago. Materials made of bronze statues. In the statue, Obama wearing shorts with sneakers.
Obama left hand raised to the top with a butterfly perched on a thumb. High statue of Obama’s 6-year-old is 110 cm and weight 30 kg. The statue was given the name Barry Dream Statue.
Making this sculpture Obama spent approximately Rp 100 million. Making about 3 months. But the process takes time permission 1 year.

An American tourist, I visited the Barry-Obama-the-boy statue in Taman Menteng on Sat., Jan. 2, 2010.
Clearly it is presented by people who love Barack Obama and who wish to hold him up as an inspiration to aspiring Indonesian young people.
