2015, Orangutan Must Return to Habitat
Various efforts to conserve orangutans continue to be done to protect this rare animal from extinction. Approximately 50 thousand more are now living wild orangutans in Sumatra and Kalimantan (Indonesia). While 1200 orangutan were still in the area of rehabilitation.
Later in the year 2015, the government is targeting all the orangutans which are in conservation for reintroduction to habitat. “We hope next year there must be action to return the orangutans to their habitat, from the planned 2015 deadline, said Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation, Bungaran Saragih in Sanur, Denpasar, on Thursday (07/15/2010).

To realize these efforts the Government needs cooperation from various parties including the business sector, the conservation sector, and research sectors. Besides the factors of natural resources and local communities should also be supported to maintain the life of orangutans and their habitat.
The problem faced today is the lack of forest land to accommodate all which are in the conservation of orangutans. “We need 200,000 hectares of land for it was going to propose to the government. After it can get all the permits, orangutan will be taken to the habitat,” said former Secretary of Agriculture the period 2000-2004.
